audette is an independent handbag label offering contemporary and high-quality pieces. Constantly confronting femininity and masculinity, the brand seeks its essence in unconventional shapes and vibrant colors.
A few months after its creation, audette was spotted by the MoMa in New York and is now distributed in curated stores in France, Japan, Italy, United States and Mexico.
audette was created by Aude Jan and Charles Gout, a French designer duo based in Mexico-City. They met in Paris in 2012 and moved to Mexico City a few years later, where they fell in love with the capital and its "creative chaos in permanent movement".
Aude Jan, head of design, is the brand's expert eye. Growing up as a daughter of a pattern maker who worked in the most prestigious luxury houses, she carries the French know-how in her DNA and pushes the technical limits of the conception every season. Her desire is to create objects of design with pure lines that transcend the common use of the handbag.
Charles Gout, artistic director of audette, stages their collections in strong and disruptive content campaigns. Accompanied since the beginning by the most talented creatives, he seeks to give a fresh wind to leather goods by working in a futuristic and dreamlike environment.
HANDCRAFTED IN SPAIN
“Our luxury is all about the time and care we put into our meticulous and precise developments”.
audette has decided to privilege high quality, using exclusively Italian leather and cactus fabrics. They produce a limited number of pieces by working with family workshops located in Andalusia, southern Spain; “staying close to the artisans on a daily basis is essential to achieve a balance between traditional handmade approach and modern processes”.
audette is a constant work in progress; evolving, searching for tomorrow's material and taking care of every part of the production stages.
